Mumbai, Jan 16 : The Higher and Technical Education Department is effectively implementing the Zero Pendency and Daily Disposal initiative to make the administration more citizen-friendly and efficient. This initiative has resulted in the swift disposal of pending files within the department. A total of 4,470 cases have been resolved as part of this effort.
To ensure no pending files remain, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil took the lead and instructed that the Zero Pendency initiative be fully implemented by January 31. Additionally, starting February 1, the Minister has decided to visit the offices of the Deputy Director of Education and make unannounced visits to assess the functioning of these offices. He will also visit universities and colleges to interact with principals, professors, and staff to understand their challenges.
Based on the information received regarding pending cases, a plan of action has been developed through consultations at the Directorate level to resolve these cases at both the Directorate and subordinate offices.
Initially, the pending cases were categorized. Key categories included compassionate cases, medical claims, provident fund issues, encashment of earned leave, salary fixation cases, and retirement matters. The government has also temporarily deputized some employees from government establishments and universities on an ad-hoc basis to expedite the resolution of pending cases by December 31, 2024. A statewide campaign has been launched to clear these pending matters, with daily reviews of progress. Even on public holidays, offices have remained open to address the backlog.
In this initiative, of the 1,490 cases at the Directorate of Technical Education, 1,353 have been resolved, and of the 4,183 cases at the Directorate of Higher Education, 3,117 cases have been disposed of. In total, 4,470 cases have been resolved across the Higher and Technical Education Department. The remaining cases are set to be resolved by January 31.
