The Skill Development Department is working towards providing world-class skill training to the youth of Maharashtra, ensuring that they have access to global employment opportunities. In line with this vision, efforts are underway to establish a Global Skill Center in Maharashtra, modeled after Singapore’s successful framework. Today, Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha held discussions with Singapore’s Consul General Ong Ming Fung at the state secretariat regarding this initiative. Minister Lodha stated that once the necessary legal formalities are completed, training in globally recognized trades will commence for the youth of Maharashtra.
During the meeting, Singapore’s Consul General Ong Ming Fung reviewed various vocational training programs currently being conducted in different parts of the state. He expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the Skill Development Department and agreed to collaborate in providing world-class skill training to students in Maharashtra. The meeting was attended by Director of Vocational Education and Training Madhavi Sardeshmukh, Additional CEO of the Skill Development Society Anil Sonawane, and Chief Minister’s Special Officer Kaustubh Dhavse.
Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education Services (ITEES) offers skill courses aligned with the needs of global industries. Through this initiative, youth in Maharashtra will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in multinational company projects, exposure to advanced technology, robotics, AI, industrial systems, and services training.
The Global Skill Center in Singapore provides training of an international standard, opening doors to global employment opportunities for students. In line with this approach, the Maharashtra Skill Development Department is committed to creating similar opportunities for local youth. Minister Lodha mentioned that discussions with Singapore’s Consul General Ong Ming Fung were positive, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will soon be signed to formalize the collaboration.
